Bubble Harp App Reviews

disapointing

This app could be a lot more fun if youd have control over the samples used. It gets terribly irritating if you dont like the main sound (piano)!

Avoid!

Painful... Definitely avoid this. Sounds a hell of lot more fun than it is.

Its what you put in it!

All is right there. Its what you put in it. I compose music. Its fun, inspiring and it gives "sort of" a control over randomness. I like it! LeRobot myspace.com/LeRobot.Stormbass

Wow

Something unreal. Im gonna get trance.

Experimental Art + Music! Bubble Harp is the best!

Another great app from Scott Snibbe! I love this one because it allows one to generate a continuous stream of music and visuals which never repeat themselves. So one could literatlly compose a piece, and play with it for hours. The toolbar appears when you move your mouse to the bottom of the screen, which allow you to change the rate of "streaming" lines, erase lines, etc. The music sounds great on the Mac version, perhaps because my speakers are better than on iPhone/iPad. One of the most interesting controls on the toolbar is to change the scale (Pentatontic, Blues, Hungarian, etc). Instantly your composition is changed, and it would be a great way to teach oneself or ones children about music. I think both kids and adults would get something out of this (I have seen babies, children and adults alike using the iPad version). Definitely worth the price!

Good But....

This app is great! But it does need a little more sounds, and maybe more options. Maybe multi-colored lines? Other then a few things that could be added i love it!

Pretty fun

I Love this app pecause of all the possibilitys! i just think you could add MORE INSTURMENTS! then there would be even more possibilitys!

cool, but not that cool

I kinda felt like i was getting motion sickness, maybe the colors need changed. I would like to see more options.

Ran it once, was amused. Probably wont again.

Im torn. On the one hand, I remember programs like this on the original 128K Mac—they were simple, they did something marginally interesting, and I loved them. And I miss apps like that. On the other hand, that was 26 years ago and I dont have quite as much free time as I did when I was 10 years old. I dont expect Ill play around with this again because it doesnt have an obvious logic. I doodle around and make the sounds change, but I dont see the why or how of it. I cant affect it in any predictable fashion, which kind of kills the interactive aspect. Compare that with (e.g.) Soundrop, which has me going for hours, tweaking geometry and exploring different interesting sounds and rhythms. Bubble Harp looks nice, but I havent found any depth to it yet.

Creative and fun but lacks viability

Very interesting but I cant actually write any actualy comprhensible music with it.

Mesmerizing combo of geometry and sound

Bubble Harp is a mesmerizing synthesis of geometric patterns and musical tones. At first I wasnt impressed, but after spending a few minutes playing with the controls I began to appreciate the possibilities. This app is a must for anyone with an interest in musical tones and scales. For others, it will be an enjoyable way to spend to a few minutes. Somehow it is very soothing, sort of like meditation or yoga. Im not aware of anything else like it. Definitely worth the $1.99 price.

2 bucks of entertainment!

Fun diversion, the domain of results needs to be expanded. I like the serendipity of the app, its just there isnt enough varience to make those accidents interesting.

Interesting

It is really cool that you will never hear the same thing repeat as you click around. But at times there can be a mess of sound, but thats the beauty of it. You gotta keep clicking to see if you can make a melody that works and when it does, it is really cool! Its really as easy to do.

AWESOME

the Mac App store needed a freestyle music app, and this is it! Geat app!

Whats the point?

What more can I say other than what a waste of 2 dollars. Its really too bad you cant try before you buy.

Save your money

This would be an awesome free app, but save your two bucks. I was mosly interested in the musical aspect, which could easily be compared to a child pessing the keys of a piano at random. The visual part is pretty cool, but not really amusing beyond five minutes.

Very Cool

I couldnt tell how cool it was at first, I was getting alot of repeated notes. But then I started playing around with the settings and the different scales, and I got some crazy ostinatos going with the "Hungarian" and "Blues" scales, which I jammed along with on my Wurlitzer. Fun! Why isnt it called "Spider Harp" or something -- those things look like spider webs.

Great!

I love this app. It is so relaxing, and definitely worth the money!

pretty cool

i like it but it just makes me too dizzy

Meh..

I used this app maybe 5 times..but i really liked the idea..i just didnt exacly like the the variation of sounds... MORE INSTRUMENTS PLEASE
